Version 2, 19 October 2026. Sona is made by Sandmind LLC.

The short version

On your device

Sona saves your pan settings (scale, notes, mirror, 440 or 432 Hz), your lesson stars, your practice days, your microphone calibration and whether you joined the Sona Pro list (which opens Sona Pro on this device) in your browser's local storage. They never leave the device. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them.

The microphone

When you turn the microphone on, Sona listens on your device for the moment you strike a note. The sound is analysed as it arrives and then discarded. It is never recorded, stored or sent to us or anyone else. You can turn the microphone off at any time, or never turn it on: every lesson also works by tapping.

The waitlist

If you join, we store:

It is stored in a database on Cloudflare, which hosts Sona. We use it only to email you about new lessons and the launch. We do not sell it or share it, and we do not add it to any other list.

Counting visits

On sonahandpan.com only, Sona counts what happens in the app, anonymously, with PostHog: for example that a page opened, a lesson was finished or a practice session ended. There are no cookies and no stored identifier. No event contains your email, your name or any sound. Each event says roughly what kind of device it came from, whether the page was opened inside an app such as Instagram, and how many days have passed since your first practice day, which Sona works out on your device.

Deletion and questions

To have your email removed from the waitlist, to get a copy of what we hold about you, or to ask anything about this page, write to hello@sonahandpan.com. We delete on request.

Changes

If this page changes, the version and date above change with it. The waitlist keeps the version of the consent text each person agreed to.
